    What the workshop is about

Through the‘Creating Peak Moments to Shift Organisation Culture’ workshop the experience collective are looking to leverage ideas from Chip and Dan Health’s 2017 book: ‘The Power of Moments’ to create work experiences that not only leave lasting memories but help employees be their best selves.

We’ve seen the practice of insights and design utilized by more and businesses looking to create more effective solutions. Most of these insight and design outcomes focus on consumers and their experiences, so with this in mind the ‘Experience Collective’ is looking to focus on employee experiences.

    Workshop overview

How could we shape employee experience to create the culture and habits of an Organisation that we get more from and give more to?

The ‘Creating Peak Moments to Shift Organisation Culture’ workshop asks attendees to review, ideate and redesign work rituals and routines.

    Step 1. Briefing

Introduction and briefing on the day’s activities

    Step 2. Employee experience framework

Participants review key employee experience journeys; everything from induction programme to meeting protocol. There are many journeys that we all experience during our workdays and most of the time, we automatically follow standard routines that often lead to standard outcomes.

Step 3. Self-reflection on ‘potholes’ of employee experiences journey

Participants reflect on the ‘potholes’ or low points of the employee experience journey using frameworks from Step 2.

Step 4. Journey mapping & building peak moments

Participants form teams based on the part of the experience journey that they most wish to address. Each team then maps the journey in detail and looks for opportunities to build ‘Peak Moments’.

    Step 5. Self-driven ideation

Participants individually ideate on specific areas of their team’s journey map to look for new opportunities to get employees more personally involved, improve the employee journey and create rewarding experiences.

Step 6. Team evaluation, ideation and creation

Teams come together to review and build on specific ideas to create a new employee experience journey. Each team then creates scenes and moments from their employee journey map to share with other teams.

    Step 7. Experience role-play

Each team selects one or more members of another team to role play / act-out the new employee experience journey.

    Step 8. Wrap-up

About ‘the Power of Moments’: Chip & Dan Heath

The Power of Moments asks: Why we tend to remember the best or worst moment of an experience, as well as the last moment, and forget the rest. Why “we feel most comfortable when things are certain, but we feel most alive when they’re not.

It appears the most memorable positive moments are dominated by four elements: elevation, insight, pride, and connection. If we understand how these elements work then, we can design moments that matter.

Many of the defining moments in our lives are the result of accident or luck, but why would we leave our most meaningful, memorable moments to chance when we can create them? The Power of Moments shows us how to be the author of richer experiences.

In the Power of moments, Chip and Dan Heath explore why certain brief experiences can jolt us and elevate us and change us and how we can learn to create such extraordinary moments in our life and work.

What if your organisation designed moments that bonded teams together?

What if HR designed a review process that staff celebrated?

What if recruitment made a lasting impression?

What if meetings were always evolving?

What if the word ‘corporate’ didn’t mean boring?

    What if work wasn’t...?
